*Creating Your Heart’s Desire Part I*
An art based exploration of Sonia Choquette’s book, “Your Heart’s Desire – Instructions for Creating the Life You Really Want.”
Wild Heart Studios, Fort Collins, Colorado
These workshops are designed to immerse you in creativity and guide you as you discover how to manifest what you truly want in life, be it big or small. They are based on Sonia’s simple and effective principles for creating your heart’s desire. These principles can help clarify what it is you truly desire and then provide a step-by-step process of manifesting it. From visualizing, to clearing out obstacles, to calling on the support of the universe for help, we use art making to illuminate, have fun and enrich our discovery process.

*Kids Horses and Healing*
Hearts and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center, Loveland, Colorado

Grieving children ages 8-18 will enjoy a day riding and grooming horses at Hearts and Horses riding center. We will focus on connecting with each other’s common losses while learning to ride and care for these beautiful animals. Art making, storytelling and music will be incorporated. *Open Studio for Grieving Teens*

The open studio format will be used to create a safe and creative atmosphere for teens to come and make art in community with other teens who have experienced a loss of someone close to them. Letting it Flow (Large format silk painting)
August 3, 2008
The emphasis in this class is on allowing the dyes and silk to create the art while we, the artists listen to the “voice” of our materials. We will use guided imagery and meditation techniques to lead participants to find color/ image that inspires their "inner artist".

This class is of particular interest to those who want to loosen up their creative selves, allowing the materials to guide and speak more directly. The techniques used will facilitate creative breakthrough and personal insight.

Each participant will complete a large silk  (3'x6') piece by the end of the day.
$120.00 + $35.00 material fee/ all materials provided

Playing with Image (Photo transfer techniques on silk)
August 4, 2008
This is a basic informational, how-to class in which we explore the many ways to transfer photographs and copied images onto silk fabric. There will be time to do hands-on practice and experimentation. Participants may wish to take the 2-day class, “Making Marks” after this class, as they will be able to use the photo transfers in creating a finished art piece with the photo transfers and surface design techniques.

Each student will need to bring: Multiple copies of photographs and images. These must be copied on a photocopy machine; copies from a computer printer will not work with these techniques. Copies with strong contrast work the best for most of these techniques.
$120.00 + $25.00 materials fee/ all materials provided.

Making Marks
Silk collage and surface design techniques. August 4 & 5, 2008
Use your photo transfers (from the 1 day class, “Playing with Image”) and learn other useful techniques to transform silk using your own unique marks. In this class we will learn how to make marks using a wide variety of surface design techniques and how to combine these in creating silk collages. These techniques will be allow the silk painter to create multi-dimensional, layered images by using; photo transfers (if they have taken the 1 day class), stamping, printmaking and layering techniques. 

Participants do not need to take “Playing with Image” but it will just allow them to have more to work with during the workshop. All participants will need to bring their own silk paintings/ images to work with in their collages.

This class will combine demonstration, hands on work, and guided imagery. Participants will create their own collage canvases by the end of the class.

*Using the Creative Arts with the elderly & with hospice patients*
Avamere Health Systems, Portland Oregon
October 2, 2008
This is a workshop for activity directors, social workers and anyone who works with the elderly and hospice patients. It will highlight how art can provide a valuable tool for self-expression at this time in a person’s life. This will be a hands-on workshop where you will leave with specific tools/ art processes to use with your patients. Previous art-making background is not necessary.

This will be a fun day to come and create silk scarves to give as gifts or to keep for yourself. New and returning students are encouraged to attend this open-format class. $80.00 + $40.00 material fee (this includes 2 scarves, each additional scarf will be $5.00).
